🕯️ what it is

mass is the central prayer of the catholic church.

it is where the church gathers to hear the word of God, offer prayer, and receive the eucharist.

it is not just “going to church.”

it is worship, sacrifice, communion, memory, mystery, and return.

🍞 eucharist

the eucharist is the source and summit of the catholic faith.

at mass, ordinary bread and wine become the body and blood of Christ.

this is not just a symbol. it is a sacrament.

it is Jesus giving himself to the church.

🧠 note to self

mass does not require me to arrive emotionally perfect.

i can be tired.

i can be distracted.

i can feel awkward.

i can have a low-energy body and a foggy brain.

showing up still matters.

🌿 if i feel distant

if i have been away for a while, i can return gently.

  • i can sit near the back
  • i can follow along quietly
  • i can participate as much as i am able
  • i can go to confession if i need to
  • i can ask God to help me want to return
  • i can let the rhythm carry me before my feelings catch up

🧺 if i cannot receive communion

if i am not able to receive communion, i can still attend mass.

i can make a spiritual communion.

i can pray.

i can listen.

i can be present.

not receiving communion does not mean i should stay away from mass entirely.

🕯️ spiritual communion

my Jesus,
i believe that you are present in the most holy sacrament.
i love you above all things,
and i desire to receive you into my soul.
since i cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
i embrace you as if you were already there
and unite myself wholly to you.
never permit me to be separated from you.
amen.
